The Proposal
Eileen and Chris' engagement story started in early January of 2008. The couple made a New Year's Resolution to go on a cruise to Alaska to enjoy the glaciers, whales and the cool and clear Alaskan air. The cruise set sail on June 28th, 2009 from Vancouver, B.C. towards Alaska.
The second night of their cruise was the Captain's formal dinner, everyone was in dresses and suits, including Eileen and Chris. After the main course, Chris excused himself so that he could stretch his legs. In reality, he stood behind Eileen so that she could not see him. Chris signaled over their Filipino waiter Armando, slipped him the ring and asked him to put it on Eileen's desert plate.
As everyone at the table received their desert, Eileen noticed that her desert had not come yet. She kept wondering, "Where is my cheesecake!?" Once her desert came, something was strange to her, she wondered, "Why is there a cover over my desert?" Armando lifted the food cover off and she wondered again, "Why is there a pudding cup on my desert? This must be the wrong thing." Finally, she looked in the pudding cup and said, "Are You Serious?!"
Chris took the ring out of the pudding cup, got on one knee, told Eileen that he loved her with his whole heart and asked her to marry him. Through tears and love, she said yes.
